Siegel JCC Leverages Do More 24 DE to Empower Youth and Strengthen Community Connections
In 2024, Siegel JCC, a nonprofit community center where people of all faiths and backgrounds come together to learn, share, play, and celebrate, participated in Do More 24 DE to raise funds in support of a one-day Olympic style event for Jewish youth aged 9-12. The support helped provide scholarships, making this event accessible to athletes. It also helped to feed and uniform the athletes, ensure adequate security for the event, and added to the professionalism of the tournaments. Anna Saul, chief advancement officer, is happy to be participating again this year, in the hopes of raising money for senior programs that aim to combat social isolation of older adults.
Participating in Do More 24 DE gave Saul a different way to fundraise. It has become a natural part of their fundraising strategy and something they plan for every year. While fundraising is generally the main focus of nonprofits, finding new ways to do so can be difficult. Do More 24 DE is a great way for nonprofits to connect with the Delaware community and other nonprofits in the state. New donors may discover a nonprofit that they otherwise would not have.
For Siegel JCC, Saul mentioned that people don’t recognize that they are a nonprofit. “Working with Spur Impact is a way to get our word out, spread awareness, and show the community what we’re about. We can really shape our narrative for newcomers,” she shared.
The Do More 24 DE campaign has provided Saul with many other valuable resources, such as toolkits with campaigning materials and webinars. Another way in which it has supported Siegel JCC is through a social media ambassador program, in which a university student helped them publish social media posts promoting their Do More 24 DE participation.
“Overall, it’s been really wonderful to engage with Spur Impact. We feel really lucky to have the opportunity to be in this community. It helps us get to know what other organizations are doing. It’s a wonderful experience all around,” remarked Saul.
