The Impact of Spur Impact Leadership Summit to My Career

My journey with the MillSummit and ultimately the Spur Impact Leadership Summit planning committee began with a simple but powerful goal: to build meaningful, authentic connections for both myself and our attendees. While my responsibilities have evolved over the years, my commitment to fostering relationships, facilitating impactful networking, and aligning the right resources has remained constant.
Now serving as an executive co-chair, my focus has shifted toward strategic planning, partnership development, and driving community impact. The skills I’ve gained through this experience have significantly elevated my professional growth. Starting on the general planning committee over seven years ago, I developed a strong foundation in event coordination and project management—skills that proved invaluable in both committee work and my career.
Leading subcommittees and emceeing the conference stage helped me grow in public speaking, which translated into greater visibility and leadership within my organization. These experiences contributed directly to career advancement and personal development.
As sponsorship co-chair, I’ve worked closely with Spur Impact’s Executive Director, Charlie Vincent, to ensure the financial sustainability of the MillSummit as we embark on a new brand, Spur Impact Leadership Summit. Strategic planning was key in our successful rebranding from MillSummit, and collaboration across subcommittees ensured our marketing and programming maintained high standards of quality and integrity.
Working alongside fellow executive co-chairs has deepened my appreciation for diverse skill sets and leadership styles. Together, we’ve built a space where learning from one another is not only encouraged but essential to our shared success.
I encourage everyone sitting on the fence to jump in. I am not sure where I would be today, professionally and personally, without the confidence, skills, and network that Spur Impact and the Spur Impact Leadership Summit creates for leaders each year.
