The Blue Hen Capstone Nonprofit Blog Series

The Blue Hen Nonprofit Series is a collaborative project between Spur Impact and students from the University of Delaware’s English 462 capstone course.

As part of this experiential learning initiative, students applied their research, writing, and critical thinking skills to create blog posts on timely and relevant nonprofit topics, including advocacy, community, storytelling, governance, and much more. Each piece offers a well-researched, student-driven perspective aimed at supporting and informing nonprofit organizations.

To culminate their work, student groups delivered formal in-class presentations to Spur Impact, showcasing their research process, key findings, and the unique angles of their blog posts. The series represents a unique blend of academic insight and real-world application, empowering students to contribute meaningfully to the nonprofit sector while preparing for their own professional futures.

This collaboration has provided Spur Impact with valuable insight into how the next generation views key issues in the nonprofit sector—bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas to ongoing conversations. At the same time, it has offered students the chance to gain hands-on experience, develop professionally, and explore opportunities for future involvement in mission-driven work.
