Social Media Ambassador Program
The Do More 24 Delaware Social Media Ambassador Program launched over four years ago to give nonprofits extra support in preparing for the Do More 24 Delaware campaign. Many nonprofits told us they needed help managing their social media presence and fundraising efforts. To meet that need, we created an innovative, free program where dedicated student ambassadors partner with nonprofits to provide consistent social media management and brand messaging.
We saw a unique opportunity to connect with local universities, where students are eager to gain real-world experience, explore the nonprofit sector, and engage in meaningful volunteerism. The program offers a short-term, hands-on experience that exposes students to the wide range of nonprofit missions and gives them a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run an organization. In 2021, we piloted the program in partnership with the University of Delaware’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Since then, hundreds of students have applied, with more than 125 accepted into the micro-internship program. Many participants have continued supporting nonprofits beyond their initial placement, and the program continues to grow each year.
