Strengthening Community and Conservation: The Nanticoke River Watershed Conservancy’s Partnership with Spur Impact and Do More 24 Delaware

The mission of the Nanticoke River Watershed Conservancy (NRWC) is to identify, promote and actively seek the acquisition of lands with natural, aesthetic and historic significance in the Nanticoke River watershed and to promote the protection and balanced use of these lands. Collaborating with Spur Impact and Do More 24 Delaware has played a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the NRWC. Thanks to the team, they have been able to broaden their reach and connect with other nonprofit organizations, creating a stronger sense of community.

“Spur Impact has helped us connect with other nonprofits. This is important because an individual organization can only do as much as they can with various social media to promote themselves,” mentioned Harry Brake, education and volunteer coordinator. Participating in Do More 24 Delaware has allowed NRWC to not only learn about other nonprofits, but increase their own visibility. Overall, the sense of community and interconnectedness has grown.

Since participating in the event, they have become more well known to newcomers in the area and have successfully engaged younger demographics in its conservation activities. The excitement surrounding Do More 24 Delaware, coupled with comprehensive trainings, inspired increased engagement from board members and volunteers. Spur Impact has offered many ways for the NRWC to facilitate growth and inspire community involvement.

Working with the team has been a positive experience for the NRWC. “It has been a pleasure working with the Spur Impact team and nothing but a positive experience,” stated Brake. The support and collaboration provided by Spur Impact has been instrumental in creating an interconnected network of nonprofits. This partnership has contributed to the NRWC's continued success in protecting the lands of the Nanticoke River watershed and building a stronger, more engaged community.
